All Ways Learning leads and enables learning for people managing culture and the arts.

We want to develop and sustain a dynamic learning community, networks of individuals who are actively engaged in learning from and with each other through a variety of activities which encourage sharing skills, knowledge and information.
All Ways Learning is a company limited by guarantee with a small core staff, a board of directors and a growing team of associates.
In order to provide a range of activities and services, we work with a number of self-employed individuals with relevant expertise.

Our Board
Jean Floodgate is Acting Chair of the Board of All Ways Learning. She has 28 years’ management experience including Head of Global Learning and Development at The Body Shop International plc and Head of Management Development at TSB Group plc. Current activities include working with a wide range of organisations and communities on strategic development and major change and learning programmes; coaching and mentoring support to key managers and Boards of Directors; designing and facilitating large scale participative conferences; chairing a national working party on Continuing Professional Development; and teaching on the Masters in Lifelong Learning at the University of Sussex. Mark Helyar is a director, writer and musician. He has been Artistic Director of two theatre companies, the most recent being Hampshire-based Proteus. A convert to Continuing Professional Development, he is no stranger to making difficult, risky decisions. A three-month sabbatical led him to embark on an Arts & Business mentoring programme and, 18 months later, quitting his job, selling his house and flying to India. Since his return, he has handled an eclectic work portfolio including directing; musical directing; composing; consultancy; training, and writing. His first book, based on his rural Indian adventures, will be published later this year. Mark has served on a number of boards including Basingstoke’s Local Strategic Partnership, and is currently Chair of TAPS, a community music organisation.
Hilary Lane is the County Arts Officer and Cultural Strategy Manager for East Sussex County Council. She has worked in an arts organisation, as a freelance exhibitions organiser and writer, within the funding system and, currently, for a local authority. Her work has given her a wide and deep knowledge of organisations across art forms, from established ones with a number of professional staff, those which punch above their weight maintaining high profile programmes with a tiny workforce, organisations run by volunteers programming professional work (festivals for example), individual arts practitioners across all art forms and small scale production companies.
Tracey Shaw is an arts marketing professional in the theatre sector. A successful career spanning 15 years of arts and venue management, in both the commercial and subsidised sectors, includes Chichester Festival Theatre, Manchester Palace & Opera House and, currently, for the Ambassador Theatre Group based at Theatre Royal Brighton. Tracey has worked extensively on the national touring circuit and, recently, made her first foray as a Producer with a star-studded gala performance in celebration of Theatre Royal Brighton’s 200th anniversary. Tracey was one of only 40 women selected nationally to participate on City University’s Cultural Leadership MA, the UK’s first fully accredited course.
Emma Drew is our Chief Executive, and also on the Board. Emma has worked in the book trade, in arts funding and as an independent consultant, including spells at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Women's Press, and as Literature Officer at the Cambridge office of the Arts Council. She has had a career-long committment to the broadest possible access to continuing professional development, and is working towards a doctorate on literature and public policy. Emma has acted in an advisory capacity to artists and writers, SMEs (funded and commercial) and local authorities, and has a particular interest in how managers can address the evolving workplace and work-life balance debates. Naomi Trickey is Programmes Manager at All Ways Learning and, as such, manages a variety of projects and activities including Essentials of Arts Management. Before joining All Ways Learning, Naomi spent 5 years at BBC News as an online product and project manager. Before that she worked for a variety of internet start-ups both in the UK and abroad in a business development capacity. She started her working life teaching English as a foreign language. Her interest in arts management and how to enable people to do work that they are passionate about arose out of both personal interest in the arts and participation in the MA Arts & Cultural Management at the University of Sussex. Sharon Duggal is Business Development Coordinator (Marketing & Communications) for All Ways Learning. She has worked in arts management for over 18 years, including a number of years as Head of Press & Marketing at London ’s Hackney Empire Theatre. For the past 6 years Sharon has worked more specifically in literature development and was, until recently, Managing Editor of Calabash, a literary magazine for writers of African and Asian descent. As well as working for AWL Sharon continues to initiate and manage literature and other arts based activities in the region. Sharon has an MA in Arts Management from City University. Julie Watson came to AWL while researching theories of Multiple Intelligences for her MA in Arts and Cultural Management (09) at Sussex University. She represents and celebrates the diversity of roles that we as arts managers often take on. As well as working for AWL, she is a practicing artist, school governor, volunteer for Fabrica Gallery and has organised and curated numerous art exhibitions in and around Brighton She has a BA in painting and sculpture from Bennington College in Vermont USA, and has a particular interest in early years creative teaching and learning. Tim Stephens is an artist, and education consultant with twenty years experience, now working as Learning and Development Manager at All Ways Learning. He has acted as a Quality Consultant on the national ‘Support for Success’ programme, been an Inclusion Manager in the FE sector and Artist-in-residence across education sectors, fine art and community settings. His specialisms are in ‘Exchange’ and ‘Multi-sensory’ methodologies and their applicability to a range of contexts. These include installation and public art, to regeneration and social/community development, to personal and professional development and organisational change. After a first class fine art degree from Brighton University heworked with architectural practices as a Soundartist and Advisor on theimpact of environments on learning. Also working with The Stephen Lawrence Trust on Equality & Diversity, he is a visiting lecturer at Brighton University and a member of MOSAIC, Brighton and Sensescapes (Multi-sensory methodologies in the built environment). timstephens(at)allwayslearning.org.uk
